These answers describe the current Creaturely v1 design.
Does Creaturely need an account or internet connection?
No. The complete journal works locally without a Creaturely account. Network access is used only for external links and optional private recovery that you enable with Apple CloudKit or Google Drive.
Where is my journal stored?
Entries live in local SQLite storage and app-managed files on the active device. Local data remains the source of truth during ordinary use.
How do I back up the journal?
Use the backup controls in Settings to save a validated .creaturely file through the system file picker. Store it in a trusted location and keep another copy when the record matters.
Is private recovery the same as sync?
No. Private recovery stores snapshots in your Apple or Google account for backup and restore. It does not continuously merge changes between devices.
Can I share information with a veterinarian?
Yes. You can prepare a PDF health summary, CSV raw data, or a ZIP package with selected documents, then save or share it through your device. Review every export before sending it.
Are medication and care reminders guaranteed?
No notification system is guaranteed. Operating systems can delay or suppress reminders. Treat notifications as an aid and keep another safeguard for time-sensitive care.
What kinds of animals can I add?
Creaturely is species-neutral. You can choose a common species or enter a custom species and breed, so the journal can fit companion animals, farm animals, birds, reptiles, and others.
What should I include in a bug report?
Include the Creaturely version, platform, operating-system version, locale, steps to reproduce, what you expected, and what happened. Use fictional or redacted examples only.
Report the behavior, not the private record.
GitHub support issues are public. Never attach a real .creaturely backup, animal health report, photo, medical document, address, or other personal information.
